KDK♠CARD SUITE

The rules of 864

Three players. A 54-card deck. Eighteen cards each. Make the books for your spot to score.

8books · 80 points
6books · 60 points
4books · 40 points

Trump & playing a book

Choose before the game: the 8 spot calls trump after seeing their hand, or the 8 spot’s bottom card sets trump. If it is a joker, use the 8 spot’s last non-joker card. The 8 spot leads first. Play clockwise and follow suit if you can. The highest trump wins; otherwise the highest card of the suit led wins. The winner leads next.

Trump order: Big joker → little joker → 2 → ace → king → queen → jack → 10 down to 3. Both jokers count as trump, including when following suit. Other suits rank ace high, 2 low.

If “Break trump before leading” is on, you cannot lead trump until someone has played it, unless you hold only trump.

Collecting books

Extra books earn trades in the next hand; missed books create debts. Spots rotate 4 → 6 → 8 → 4. After the next deal and trump choice, the highest current spot collects first. For each trade, choose a player who owes and offer your lowest card in a suit for their highest card in that suit. Jokers belong to trump for trades too. If the player has none of that suit, you lose that trade; the debt and entitlement each decrease by one.

Scoring & winning

Make or exceed your target to score 80, 60, or 40 points. Miss it and score zero; existing points are never removed. Extra books do not add points. Choose a winning score before starting. At the end of a hand, if anyone reaches it, the highest total wins. Equal highest totals share the win.
